⚠️ Draft: please set the controller in src/config/legal.ts and have this policy reviewed by a lawyer.
Protecting your personal data matters to us. Day Mercury only processes the data that is technically necessary to operate this website. We use no tracking, no advertising, no analytics tools, no social-media plugins and no external fonts. Below we inform you about the processing pursuant to Art. 13 GDPR.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:
[Name bzw. Firma des Betreibers – bitte eintragen]
[Straße und Hausnummer]
[PLZ] [Ort]
Deutschland
Email: datenschutz@daymercury.com
2. Your rights
You have the right at any time to obtain free information about your stored personal data (Art. 15 GDPR), to have it corrected (Art. 16), erased (Art. 17) or its processing restricted (Art. 18), a right to data portability (Art. 20) and a right to object (Art. 21). Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3)). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority (Art. 77) — the competent authority is that of the controller's federal state, and you may also contact the authority of your habitual residence.
3. Hosting
This website is hosted with IONOS SE (Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Deutschland) on a server located in Germany/the EU. The host processes the data transmitted via the website (in particular access data) on our behalf under a data-processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure and reliable operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
4. Server log files
When you access this website, information is automatically recorded in so-called server log files that your browser transmits: IP address, date and time of the request, the address requested, the volume of data transferred, the referrer URL, and the browser and operating system used. This data serves technical provision, stability and security (defence against attacks). The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Logs are stored for a short period and then deleted, unless they are needed to investigate a specific abuse.
5. Cookies
This website uses exclusively technically necessary cookies to store your settings. No cookies are set for tracking, analytics or advertising purposes. As these cookies are strictly necessary, no consent under § 25 (2) TDDDG is required; the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Specifically, the following are set:
- gn_locality — stores your chosen region (Germany/Global), lifetime approx. 1 year.
- gn_lang — stores your chosen language (German/English), lifetime approx. 1 year.
You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings; the region/language will then be determined anew on each visit.
6. Language and region selection
To suggest a suitable language and region on your first visit, our server evaluates your IP address or a country indicator provided by our reverse proxy, together with your browser's language preference (Accept-Language). This evaluation takes place on the server; no location data is stored permanently and no external services are used for it. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
7. Images from Wikimedia Commons
Some articles contain freely licensed images that are loaded directly from the servers of Wikimedia Commons (Wikimedia Foundation, Inc., USA). In doing so, your IP address is transmitted to Wikimedia so that the image can be delivered to your browser. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in an attractive, source-referenced presentation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). For transfers to the USA we rely on appropriate safeguards and/or the EU Commission's adequacy decision (EU-US Data Privacy Framework). Further information can be found in the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy.
8. External links
Our articles link to the original sources cited and to other external websites. If you follow such a link, the privacy policies of the respective providers apply. We have no influence over their data processing.
9. Contacting us
If you contact us by email, we process your details exclusively to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (responding to your enquiry) or (b) where it concerns the initiation of a contract. The data is deleted once it is no longer required.
10. No automated decision-making
There is no automated decision-making or profiling with legal effect concerning you. While our articles are created with the help of artificial intelligence from publicly available news sources, this does not involve processing the personal data of visitors to this website.
11. SSL/TLS encryption
For security reasons, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the “https://” in your browser's address bar.
12. Currency of this policy
We update this privacy policy whenever changes to the website make it necessary. The version published here applies in each case.
